Bird Boxes

Bird boxes come in all shapes and sizes and choosing the right one for your garden and the garden bird species you wish to attract is key. One size does not fit all, and bird boxes vary greatly in design. Nest boxes range from those with small access holes to suit Blue Tits, to those with larger holes for Starlings or open fronted designs for Robins and Blackbirds, plus specialist designs for Tree Creepers.

In general bird houses should be positioned in sheltered, dry places and high enough off the ground, or deep enough in vegetation to protect the birds from predators, but with a clear flight path to the entrance. It is a good idea to combine them with a bird feeder to attract different species to the garden and then to encourage them to stay.
